Frequently Asked Questions

Egg Donors

How old do I have to be to participate as an egg donor

The IVF clinics we work with prefer egg donors to be between the ages of 21 and 32.

Do I have to live in New Jersey to work with your Agency?

No, you can live in all 5o States. You are compensated for your donation as well as all travel costs and food allowance for you and a chosen companion.

How many eggs will be retrieved?

Every donor will stimulate differently but the average amount of eggs retrieved in one cycle is between 8 and 15 eggs. Sometimes more.

Does this affect my future fertility?

Egg donation does not affect your future fertility. The eggs that are brought to maturity during the medication process are lost anyway as the ovaries have many more eggs than you will ever need.

What testing is required before and during the egg donation process?

You will be required to complete infectious disease screening and hormone testing during the testing phase. You will then be required to complete 4-5 ultrasounds and blood work during the time period you are taking the fertility medications. And once again, prior to the egg donation, you will be required to do infectious disease testing.

How long does the donation process take?

The donation process is about 6 weeks to 2 months, but the active portion (medication phase) is approximately 12-14 days.

How many appointments do I have during the donation process?

You will have anywhere between 6-8 appointments as each clinic has their own particular protocol.

What compensation do I receive?

You will receive $6,000 and all expenses paid for travel, food, car and travel companion (if applicable) if you are first time donor. For each consecutive donation you will receive an additional $1,000 up to the 4th donation ($8,500). Any donations after 4 are compensated at $8,500.

What kind of medication will I need to take?

You will begin the process with an oral contraceptive then followed by gonadotropins which will stimulate the ovaries to bring to maturity any of the eggs that are competing for maturity. This medication is taken on a daily basis either once or twice per day for 10-12 days. The final injection is Lupron which will be the final step in maturation of the eggs.

Will I meet the recipients, or will they know anything about me?

The clinics we work with require that you be between the ages of 21 and 32.

Gestational Carriers

How much do I receive for compensation?

The compensation that you will be receiving is first and foremost not the major reason that we want you to consider participation in this program.  As you realize, this is an emotional and much thought-out decision for all of the parties involved.  As a first-time gestational carrier, you will receive compensation in the amount of $40,000 to $50,000.  This does not include medication start fee, transfer fee, maternity allowance, twin fee (if applicable), C/Section fee (if applicable), invasive procedure fee, insurance (if necessary), mileage to and from the physician’s visits, and other approved costs.  It should and will cost you nothing to do this process.  All costs are covered by the intended parent(s) and will be outlined specifically in your contract with them.  You will receive the payment for this service throughout the pregnancy as agreed by you and the intended parent(s).  Most often, the carrier will receive monthly installments for a total of 10 months with the final payment being within 30 days of the delivery of the child.  A proven/repeat gestational carrier can receive as much as $50,000 (some higher).  The compensation is paid in the same manner regardless of being a first-time carrier or repeat carrier and all compensation is outlined in a specific and detailed contract.  You will pay nothing for the contract and will have your own representation of this contract by an attorney of your choosing.  There will be additional compensation for other issues that will be covered in the contract, i.e. lost wages, childcare and housekeeping, (if applicable).

Do I need to have health insurance?

Intended Parents

What is the total cost for the Surrogacy program?

The cost is between $70,000 to $80,000. This includes any fees to the Agency, the Gestational Carrier fees, escrow for any GC testing done outside of your IVF clinic, travel costs for the Gestational Carrier, the legal costs for the drafting and reviewing attorney. The costs you will pay outside of this estimate are fees to your own IVF clinic for yourself and any testing done for the Gestational carrier at that facility and any costs for the actual procedures. It also does not include medication for your Gestational Carrier or legal fees to have your names on the birth certificate.

Do you offer any financing?

We do not offer any financing. There are outside medical financing companies that may offer assistance for those procedures that medical insurance does not pay.

How long does the matching process take?

At the present time, the matching process can be as long as 9-12 months. In some situations, it can be longer if you are stricter in your criteria, i.e. the candidate must be local, she must have insurance, she must be married.

Does it matter what state the gestational carrier lives in?

Except for convenience, it does not matter. There are 47 States that permit Surrogacy. Each case may bring a difference to the scenario, i.e. genetically related to the embryos, etc. We will suggest States you should not use in this case

Do I need to obtain my own attorney?

You do not need to obtain your own attorney. We have preferred surrogate specific attorneys we will refer you to use. If you do wish to use your own attorney, they must be an experienced surrogacy attorney

Depending on the age of your Gestational Carrier and the State she resides the cost will vary from $7,500 to $10,000 for the duration of the pregnancy. Your child is not covered by her insurance. You will cover the child with your own insurance once the birth occurs.

Do I need to purchase health insurance for my baby(ies)?

Yes, your child or children would need to be added to your own insurance policy or you would need to obtain your own health i9snruacne for your child / children.

Recipients

What is the total cost?

The cost for our program for recipients will range between $14,500 and $24,000. The variable in cost depends on the donor fee ($6,000 to $8,500) and the location of the egg donor since donors who travel would need outside monitoring and travel to your IVF clinic. This cost does not include the cost for your IVF procedure, any of your testing, testing that the egg donor has at your own IVF clinic (with the exception of some clinics) and medications for your egg donor. We can discuss on a case-by-case basis the exact cost when you choose your specific egg donor.

Do I meet or talk to my donor or do they know anything about me?

Most of our donation cycles are anonymous by choice. They will know the State you reside in and there will be a code name for you in the version of the legal agreement they sign. Some recipients have been open to knowing or speaking to their egg door and we would facilitate that if requested but it would need to be mutually agreeable.

Do I need to pay to view your online database of donors?

No, to view the egg donors in our program there is no cost. You simply need to register as a recipient and then will be able to log in with your username and password to view our egg donor database.

Do you offer any financing?

We do not offer any financing but there are outside companies who do provide medical financing for those things that insurance does not cover.

How long does this process take?

From the selection of your egg donor to egg retrieval can be as quick as two months and as long as 3-4 moths. It is clinic specific.
